The present invention describes a method of preprocessing lignocellulosic biomass comprising at least: a) a step of cooking the biomass, at a temperature of between 20 and 69°C, in the presence or absence of an organic solvent, in a medium comprising one or several hydrated iron salts of formula (1): FemXn.n'H20 in which X is an anion, m and n are integers equal to 1, 2 or 3 and n' is between 0.5 and 12; b) a step of separating a solid fraction having undergone the cooking step, and a liquid fraction c) optionally, a step of processing said solid fraction.
