<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic device with increased efficiency in conversion from optical energy to electrical energy. <P>SOLUTION: Interferometrically tuned or interferometric photovoltaic devices (iPV) increase the absorption of optical energy in an active region 2101 of an interferometric photovoltaic cell 2100 and thereby increase the efficiency of the devices. In addition, one or more optical resonant cavities 2110 and/or optical resonant layers are included in the photovoltaic device 2100 to increase the electric field concentration and the absorption in the active region 2101. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
