<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for prevention and treatment of a liver disease by using A<SB POS="POST">2B</SB>adenosine receptor antagonist. <P>SOLUTION: Hepatic fibrosis is an example common to many liver complaints, which is defined as an itrahepatic cicatrization. Provided are a method for prevention and treatment of hepatic fibrosis by using the A<SB POS="POST">2B</SB>adenosine receptor antagonist and use of the A<SB POS="POST">2B</SB>adenosine receptor antagonist in the treatment and prevention of liver damages caused by alcohol abuse, surgical treatments, viral hepatitis, and uptake of hepatotoxic, or of other liver complaints.
