The invention relates to a control assembly (1) for a motor vehicle, the assembly being capable of detecting control actions carried out by a finger (4). Said assembly comprises a control device (2) and a selection element (3), on which a finger (4) for making a selection can be positioned and which has a pre-determined three-dimensional relationship with the control device (2) and is preferably adjacent and more preferably directly adjacent to the control device (2). The control device (2) is designed to detect the position of the finger (4) on the selection element (3) and to differentiate between the control actions depending on the detected position.
