A wireless device (10) has a first SIM (20) and a second SIM (21). The first SIM (20) and the second SIM (21) share a common radio system (30). A processing system (50) determines whether to allocate use of the radio system (30) to the second SIM (21) for a time period that occurs when the first SIM (20) is in an active connected mode using the common radio system (30) in order to be able to at least one of transmit data and receive data. The processing system (50) allocates or denies use of the radio system (30) to the second SIM (21) accordingly.
