<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress not only an occurrence of a halo but also black floating. <P>SOLUTION: A video display device that has a liquid crystal panel 17 for displaying a video in response to a video signal and a back light 14 using an LED controls light emission luminance of the LED for each divided region obtained by dividing the back light 14 into a plurality of regions on the basis of a predetermined relation between a gradation value of a video region corresponding to each divided region and LED light emission luminance. In a case where the gradation value of the video satisfies a predetermined condition, a first luminance adjusting section 12a adjusts the LED light emission luminance such that a variation range of the LED light emission luminance in a first range determined on the basis of the predetermined condition of the gradation value of the video region becomes smaller than a variation range of the LED light emission luminance determined on the basis of the predetermined relation therebetween. In a second range having a value smaller than that of the first range, a second luminance adjusting section 12b adjusts the LED light emission luminance such that the LED light emission luminance becomes smaller than a lower limit value of the LED light emission luminance adjusted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
