A method for producing a modified conjugated diene polymer, comprising: a polymerization step of producing a conjugated diene polymer having an active terminal using a polymerization initiator that comprises a compound having at least one nitrogen atom in the molecule and an organic lithium compound; and a modification step of reacting the active terminal of the conjugated diene polymer with a modifying agent represented by chemical formula (6).
