<p>Machine for breaking a connecting rod that has a foot and a head into a body component (1001) and a cap component (1002), said machine comprising: positioning elements (11, 23, 24) for positioning said connecting rod in a position for breaking; and an expandable element (3) arranged for insertion in a hole in said connecting-rod head and allowing the division of said connecting rod into a body component and a cap component by means of the expansion of said expandable element. The machine may comprise a moving part, with a first carriage (21) and a second carriage (22) that is able to move with respect to said first carriage (21). The machine may be arranged in order to accommodate various types of connecting rod. The machine may include positioning elements with outlets for cleaning fluid.
