<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep an observation window of an endoscope insertion section inserted into the body cavity via a trocar in a good condition without carrying out specific operations. <P>SOLUTION: An endoscope system 10, which includes the endoscope insertion section 24 inserted into the body cavity via the trocar 26 stabbed in the body wall, automatically detects whether or not the distal end of the endoscope insertion section 24 is drawn into the trocar 26 on the basis of image data (an endoscope image) acquired via the observation window 52 of the endoscope insertion section 24. When the distal end of the endoscope insertion section 24 is detected to be drawn into the trocar 26, washing solution or cleaning gas is sprayed from a spray nozzle 54 on the distal end of the endoscope insertion section 24 to clean the inside of the trocar 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
