<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical module, capable of manufacturing a highly reliable optical module. <P>SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing an optical module 1, which is the method for manufacturing the optical module 1 including an optical fiber 10 fixed by soldering, includes: a preparation process P1 for preparing the optical fiber 10 including first and second metallized layers 16, 17 in a part of a clad 12; an arrangement process P2 for arranging the optical fiber 10 thereby to allow positions where the optical fiber 10 is soldered to be at the positions of the first and second metallized layers 16, 17; a heating process P3 for heating the first and second metallized layers 16, 17 by allowing light to be made incident to the clad 12 of the optical fiber 10 and allowing at least a part of the light to be absorbed by the first and second metallized layers 16, 17; and a soldering process P4 for soldering the optical fiber 10 while the first and second metallized layers 16, 17 are heated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
