A multi-primary colour display device (100) comprises a multi-primary colour display panel (10) and a signal conversion circuit (20) and can perform display in which each pixel is constituted by a plurality of sub-pixels and a plurality of sub-pixels are allocated to a plurality of virtual pixels, the virtual pixels constituting the minimum colour display elements. The signal conversion circuit (20) is provided with: a low-band multi-primary colour signal generating unit (21) that generates a low-band multi-primary colour signal; a high-band brightness signal generating unit (22) that generates a high-band brightness signal; and a rendering processing unit (23) that performs rendering processing on a plurality of virtual pixels, in accordance with the low-band multi-primary colour signal and high-band brightness signal. The signal conversion circuit (20) is further provided with a correction amount calculation unit (24) that calculates a correction amount to be applied to the high-band brightness signal when performing rendering processing, based on the input image signal.
