The belt (2) has a strap (2.1) deflected to a deflection point (U) by a latch plate (2.3) that is insertable into a belt buckle (2.2). The belt buckle is fastened at a vehicle body or a vehicle seat (1) by a tab-shaped holding element (2.4). A support element (2.5) i.e. plastic shell, stands in active connection with the belt buckle. Rearward movement and upward movement of the belt buckle are blocked relative to a seat surface (1.1) during tightening the strap. The support element is formed as a supplementary holding element secured at a seatback (1.2) and/or the seat surface.
