<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical position detection device, a position detection system and a display system with an input function which can expand a detection range in both a traveling direction of detection light and a direction of crossing the traveling direction of the detection light. <P>SOLUTION: In a position detection system 1, a light source portion 12 radially emits detection light L2, and forms a light intensity distribution in which the intensity changes from one side toward the other side in an emission angle range of the detection light L2, and a light-receiving portion 13 receives the detection light L2 which has been reflected by a target object Ob positioned in a detection target space 10R forming the light intensity distribution.
