<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to quickly control the operational state of a source apparatus side from a sink apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A television receiver (sink apparatus) 100 and an amplifier (repeater apparatus) 200 are connected via an HDMI cable 610, and the amplifier 200 and a DVD recorder (source apparatus) 300 are connected via an HDMI cable 620. Each apparatus includes a high-speed data line interface forming a two-way communication unit with the use of a prescribed line of the HDMI cables in addition to an HDMI receiving unit and an HDMI transmitting unit. The television receiver 100 transmits information, such as channel selection information, a remote control code of a recording instruction, theater-mode instruction information, and a remote control code to the audio amplifier 200 and the DVD recorder 300 by means of the two-way communication unit.
