<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner exhibiting low-temperature fixability and high glossiness and achieving both of high picture quality and high release property. <P>SOLUTION: The toner is obtained by subjecting a solution or a dispersion liquid of an organic solvent prepared by dissolving or dispersing at least a binder resin, a prepolymer comprising a modified polyester resin, an active hydrogen group compound that extends or crosslinks with the prepolymer, a colorant and a release agent, to a crosslinking reaction and/or an extension reaction in an aqueous medium, then removing the solvent from the obtained O/W type dispersion liquid. A precursor of the prepolymer is an unmodified polyester having an alcohol having a carbon ring as a copolymerization component. The precursor has a ratio Mw/Mn, which is a ratio of the weight average molecular weight Mw to the number average molecular weight Mn, of 4.5 or less when the peak top molecular weight Mpt of the precursor is in the range of 12000≤Mw≤28000. The SP value SPr of the binder resin and the SP value SPw of the release agent satisfy a relationship of 3.0<¾SPr-SPw¾<10.0; and the melting point of the release agent is specified to the range from 50°C to 90°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
