The method involves positioning wire (4) with a loop (6) corresponding to weakening line (10) between first and second mats (2,3). The thickness of first mat is corresponding to desired residual wall thickness of airbag cover at position corresponding to weakening line. The mats are connected together. The weakening portion is introduced into second mat by pulling loop. The wire is separated from mats and portion of second mat corresponding to shape of the wire is cut through. The mats are made of natural fiber polypropylene or natural fiber polypropylene. An independent claim is included for carriage assembly.
