The transceiver(700) is associated with a serving cell (103) in a communications network (100). The transceiver(700) is in a first decoding mode, and the transceiver(700) experiences interference from a plurality of neighbor cells (107). The transceiver (700) establishes a total number of neighbor cells comprised in the plurality of neighbor cells (107) generating the interference experienced by the transceiver (700). The transceiver (700) changes to a second decoding mode when the total number of neighbor cells (107) is above a first threshold. The second decoding mode cancels interference experienced by the transceiver (700).
