The powertrain (1) has a combustion engine (2) whose crankshaft (3) is connectable with a transmission input element (8) of a vehicle transmission (9) over a start-up clutch device (5). A rotor (6a) of an electric machine (6) is connectable with the input element. The transmission has a transmission output (10) to drive a hybrid vehicle. An input side of the clutch device is connectable with the crankshaft over a separation clutch unit (4) e.g. frictional multi-disk clutch such as dry clutch, such that the crankshaft is mechanically brought into an active connection with the device input side. The vehicle transmission is designed as a spur gear such as dual-clutch transmission or automated manual transmission.
