<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a gear at low cost while improving an yield of the gear. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the gear, the gear which includes: a disc-like base member 2; and a plurality of tooth members formed separately with the base member 2 and fixed on an outer circumference of the base member 2 is manufactured. Materials 10 are inserted into a plurality of axial holes 5 provided in an outer circumferential area of end faces 11 and 12 of the base member 2, and parts of the materials 10 protruding in an axial direction from the end faces 11 and 12 of the base member 2 are crushed, so that the base member 2 is held by the materials 10 and adjacent ones of the materials 10 are brought into contact with each other in the circumferential direction.
