LINEAR MOTOR DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD

A linear motor device is provided with a linear motor and a controller for moving a needle provided with the linear motor and applying pressure to an article to be pressurized. The controller is provided with a speed-change position-setting unit and a position assessment unit. The speed-change position-setting unit is adapted for calculating a deceleration start position on the basis of the position where the article to be pressurized starts being pressurized and the distance needed to reduce the speed of the needle from a first speed to a second speed, the second speed being lower than the first speed and being a speed at which the pressure applied to the article to be pressurized is at or below a prescribed pressure when the needle comes into contact with the article to be pressurized, the deceleration start position being a position where the speed at which the needle moves starts to be reduced from the first speed to the second speed when pressure is applied to the article to be pressurized. The position assessment unit is adapted for driving the needle of the linear motor at the first speed when the needle is moved toward the article to be pressurized from a prescribed position, and for causing the needle to move at the second speed when the needle reaches the deceleration start position.
