<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement on a communication terminal customized caller ID and remote functional management of a communication terminal via shared secret exchange between calling and called parties. <P>SOLUTION: Customized caller ID identifies a caller regardless of a terminal used by the calling party. In addition, remote functional management provides for the calling party to prioritize the call or otherwise customize a call ID message. By exchanging shared secrets between the calling and called parties, the customized caller ID and remote functional management are protected by security.
