<p>The present invention provides an optical glass and optical element free of Gd2O3 and having a refractive index in the range of 1.74-1.80, and an Abbe number in the range of 47-51 at low cost. The optical glass has the following composition in weight percentages: the content of SiO2 being greater than 2.7% and less than 10%; B2O3:20%-31%; La2O3:38%-49%; the content of Y2O3 being greater than 12% and less than 20%; the content of ZnO being greater than 1% and less than 4%; the content of Nb2O5 being greater than 0.5% and less than 3%, wherein the content of ZnO is greater than that of Nb2O5; Ta2O5: 0-5%; RO: 0-5%, the RO being one or more of CaO, SrO, and MgO; and the content of ZrO2 being above 6.7% and below 15%. The present invention is used as a lanthanum borate glass without Gd2O3 addition in the composition thereof, and by adjusting the contents of La2O3, B2O3 and Y2O3 in the composition, a stable glass can be obtained.</p> |
