<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that displays image in an optical wobbling system, in which burn-in and reliability deterioration of a liquid crystal material do not occur upon displaying a static image for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device comprises: a field image creation circuit 101 for creating a plurality of field images for an original image; a liquid crystal display element 21R for displaying the plurality of field images by vertical scanning; a signal voltage supply unit 108 for supplying signal voltage corresponding to a field image W to the liquid crystal display element 21R; an optical path shift element 30 for shifting an optical path of modulated light from the liquid crystal display element 21R in accordance with the field image displayed by the liquid crystal display element 21R; a polarity inversion unit 107 for inverting polarity of the signal voltage for every vertical scanning period; and a field image switch unit 106 for switching the field image for every vertical scanning period and for switching a display order of the field images for every switching period specified as positive integral multiple of a polarity inversion period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
