A resilient sheet 5 is decelerated and stacked by passing it along a first guide surface 14, 15 which bends the sheet and directs it against a rotating stop roller 21 and allowing the bent sheet to recover its initial shape while restraining it with guide plate 12 to cause it to be deposited in receiver 25. Passage of a following sheet from rollers 10, 11 to guide surface 14 deflects plate 12 downwards out of notch 16 and thus serves to direct the previous sheet towards the receiver 25 which may be spring loaded or moved incrementally downwards. The device may be used to stack the sheets vertically (Fig. 4, not shown) and a jogger plate (37) may aid stacking. A pneumatic deflector may replace guide plate 12.</p> |
