The particle detection device is provided with: a collection unit (20) that collects particles on a collection substrate (71); a fluorescence detection unit (30) that irradiates excitation light toward the particles collected on the collection substrate (71) and receives the fluorescence emitted from the particles; and a cleaning unit (50) that removes the particles from the collection substrate (71). The collection substrate (71) moves among the collection/heating position at which particles are collected on the collection substrate (71) by the collection unit (20), the detection position at which the fluorescence is received by the fluorescence detection unit (30), and the refreshing position at which the particles are removed from the collection substrate (71) by the cleaning unit (50), by rotationally moving in a normal rotation direction or in a reverse rotation direction. The particle detection device is able to be reduced in size due to the above-described configuration.</p>
