The control unit (22) comprises a cloth quality determination unit (22a) that determines the cloth quality of laundry items from the laundry volume detection results from prior to commencement of water supply from the water supply unit (7a) and the laundry volume detection results from when the laundry items contain water. In addition, the control unit (22) drives the rotating drum (4) during the draining operation at a uniform rotation speed lower than the maximum reachable rotation speed for the rotating drum (4), for a prescribed period on the basis of the results from the cloth quality determination unit (22a).</p>
