[Also in Division D1] In a spindle assembly for a spinning or twisting machine having a bearing housing 3 for the centre shaft 1 containing a lower pivot bearing 4 separate from a collar bearing 2, the bearing 4 is supported either directly or through a bushing 7 on a supporting element 6, bearing 4 and element 6 being radially movable. A tubular connecting element 8 which is radially resilient at 8b is mounted on bearing 4 or element 6 with its resilient portion surrounding either the element 6 on bearing 4 to control the relative radial movement. The centering effect starts as soon as the bearing acts on the resilient part; normally there is a small clearance. The element 8 may consist of a basket spring having a plurality of radially resilient spring tongues 8b and tabs 8n which engage in groove 6e in element 6 to prevent axial shifting. Alternatively, (Fig. 12, not shown), the connecting element 8 may be a resilient plastics tube. An intermediate member 7 in the form of a steel, plane or convex disc, a bail, or a ball bearing arrangement, may be provided between bearing 4 and element 6 and is guided with small play within the connecting element. The pivot bearing may consist of two parts (Fig. 14), these being a plate 124a to take up the axial pressure and a sleeve 124b to take up the radial pressures. In this case the connecting element 128 surrounds the sleeve 124b or a hushing surrounding the sleeve. A damping device 129 consisting of an oil immersed coil is preferably provided. |
