A felting needle 41 is formed with at least one die pressed barb 40 the fibre engaging surfaces of which are rounded and free from any sharp edges. The method of forming the barb comprises die pressing an eye 43 in the needle and slotting the eye on one side, as at 46, to form a barb groove and a barb point 47. The slotting step comprises die pressing the needle to remove a portion of one side of the eye.</p> |
