PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling the oscillation of an edge dam in a twin roll strip casting process and a control method thereof are provided to output exact data by making a compensation value in real time. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the oscillation of an edge dam in a twin roll strip casting process comprises an upper loading cylinder, a position sensor(200), a calculating unit(300), an integrator(400), a FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) unit(500), an IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) unit(600), and a controller(700). The upper loading cylinder installed in a rear part of the edge dam wears the refractory of the edge dam. The position sensor senses a position of the upper loading cylinder. The calculating unit collects the position of the upper loading cylinder for a certain period. The calculating unit calculates the amount of back and forth vibration of the upper loading cylinder. The integrator integrates the back and forth vibration by extracting the amount of back and forth vibration. The FFT unit extracts main frequencies by filtering the integrated data after performing the FFT. The IFFT unit transforms the main frequencies extracted from the FFT unit into a time-domain. The controller outputs control signals correcting the back and forth vibration of the upper loading cylinder using the data obtained from the IFFT unit. |
