<p>New carbamic esters of formula: (where R = alkyl; X = Hal, NO2 or alkyl; R1 = H or alkyl and R2 = alkyl; or NR1R2 forms a 5-6 membered heterocyclic ring; and n = 0-2) are of use as herbicides and insecticides. Cpds. (I) may be prepared (a) by reaction of a benzyl mercaptan or its alkali metal salt with a carbamoyl chloride, (b) reaction of benzyl halide, COS, an amine in the presence of a base, or (c) reaction of a benzyl thiolcarbaminoyl chloride and an amine.</p> |
