Secondary emission can be prevented by first oxidising the surfaces through annealing in air at a temperature of 800 degrees C, then by coating them by electrophoresis with a 10-15 micron thick layer of nickel formate, followed by a nickel oxide layer 1-5 micron thick by the same process and finally annealing in a reducing atmosphere at 700 degrees C for 10 to 14 min.
