A dental instrument stand comprises a housing having a plurality of sleeves each adapted to support an instrument, which is releasably connected to a coupling element by a flexible tube, each of said elements having the same configuration and external dimensions and being adapted for connection to an adjacent element by releasable means to form a coupling block which is retained in the housing, the external configuration and dimension of the housing sleeves being identical so that they can be releasably fitted into correspondingly shaped fixing elements provided in the housing. The coupling elements may be rectangular in plan and elevation, and may be provided with transverse bores such that these elements may be coupled together by passing rods through the bores, which rods may be supported on angle plates in the housing. The housing sleeves may fit into corresponding housing sockets with cylindrical bores of identical dimensions to those of the sleeves. The sleeve may be held in the housing socket by a screw-thread, spring ring, ball catch, or by an abutment on the sleeve co-operating with either an indentation in or the inner face of the housing socket (Figs. 3-7, not shown). The dental stand is shown diagrammatically in Fig. 1 wherein an instrument 3 is supported in a housing sleeve 2 which is held in a housing socket 1' positioned in a housing support 1. The instrument is connected to a coupling element 8 by means of a flexible tube 4. The coupling element 8 is connected to adjacent elements by the rods 21 which are supported on angle plates 20. Unions 10 are provided on each coupling element for the connection to the conduit conducting the operating and treatment media.
