<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To introduce commodities that are similar to the commodity a customer is attempting to purchase. <P>SOLUTION: A commodity introducing system includes a barcode scanner, commodity information file 21, reading means, outputting means and first output control means. The barcode scanner reads the commodity code of the commodity. The commodity information file 21 stores at least the commodity code of each type commodity for sale, categorizing code, commodity name and price as commodity information. The reading means reads the commodity information of the corresponding commodity code from the commodity information file 21, based on the commodity code read by the barcode scanner and reads other commodity information, having the same categorizing code from the commodity information file based on the categorizing code of the commodity information.
