PURPOSE: An electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery is provided to improve high temperature charging and discharging performance and to suppress the generation of gas. CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte comprises a film forming compound which comprises a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond in a molecule and a Lewis acid moiety; and a non-aqueous organic solvent. The content of a film-forming compound is 0.01-20 weight% of the total weight of the electrolyte. The non-aqueous organic solvent is a carbonate-based, ester-based, ether-based, ketone-based, alcohol-based, aprotic solvent, or a combination thereof. A lithium secondary battery(1) comprises a negative electrode which comprises a negative electrode active material; a positive electrode which comprises a positive electrode material, and an electrolyte.
