These mixtures, used for the generation of oxygen on treatment with water, contain 30-55 (pref. 50) mesh % at NaO2. They are produced by heating a mixture of KO2 and Na2O2 to 438-482 degrees C under an oxygen pressure of at least 105 kg/cm2. A mixture containing 50 mole % NaO2 melts at 320 degrees C. By this method, low-melting superoxide mixtures can be obtained, which is of importance from the technical standpoint. |
