<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position instruction function communication frequency changeover system and a position instruction function communication frequency changeover method, allowing suppression of power consumption required for waiting operation of a receiver. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A vehicle 1 is provided with a car finder system 21 wherein the vehicle 1 and an electronic key 2 communicate with each other when a car finder button 26 of the electronic key 2 is operated and wherein a vehicle position is instructed to a user by displaying the vehicle position on the electronic key 2. The on-vehicle receiver 23 that is a vehicle side receiver of the car finder system 21 is normally in a waiting state at a low frequency, and changes over to a waiting state at a high frequency when receiving a car finder function trigger electric wave Scf (a position estimation request) from the electronic key 2.
