The security element has translucent carrier substrate (1). A first motive unit (2) and second motive unit (3) are arranged offset from one another, and recognized when viewed in transmitted light, and the front of security element is viewed in non-interfering manner with respect to optically variable element (4). Two regions (5,6) in optically variable element appears visually uniform when viewed in front-side incident light at first supervisory angle and are visually distinguishable by viewer in fourth motive form when viewed in front incident light at second supervisory angle.
