A piezo-electric igniter has a cylindrical housing 10 roll-formed from a metal plate 100, Fig. 5, having complementary dove-tail cut-outs and projections 104, 103 on opposite longitudinal edges which interengage to form a keyed joint, the plate also having projections 105 which extend radially outwardly of the housing to form stops and depressions 106 extending inwardly of the housing to form stops for a ring 13 carrying spring arms 25 formed with detents 24 which engage the head 22 of a striker 21. A piezo-element carrier 15 is held in one end of the housing by bent-over lugs 109 and a push-button 18 is retained in the other end of the housing by a rolled-over rim 110. Depression of the push-button against a return spring 20 compresses a spring 23 against the striker head 22 until a chamfered edge on the push-button forces apart the detents 24 whereupon spring 23 drives the striker into engagement with the pin 27 of the piezo element.</p> |
