The device (1) has several rotor blades (12) which are adapted to convert water currents into energy. A tubular rotor element (11) has an outer surface and an inner surface into which several rotor blades are incorporated. A housing structure (13) is adapted for receiving the tubular rotor element such that the tubular rotor element is rotated freely.
