[Also in Divisions F2 and F3-F4] A connecting nipple of circular cross-section for radiator sections has a right-hand and lefthand screw thread on its surface (not shown) for engagement in threaded portions of the radiator sections and, in order to receive a screw key. The nipple has diametrically opposite longitudinal ribs 11, 12 stamped therein which project radially inwards. Each rib forms a recess 23 of substantially V-form cross-section having towards its open end and on both sides a lateral widened portion 24, 25. The material displaced from the widened portions flows, during stamping, into the rib to increase the wall thickness and the widened portions have substantially the same width as the widest part of the rib. The nipple comprises a steel strip section provided with ends adapted to interengage and bent into a circle to form an annulus with the ends held together by one engaging behind the other. |
