PURPOSE: A communication device and a communication method are to prevent erroneous connection between a source and a target, to prevent collision between a plurality of targets, to judge possibility of erroneous connection of a target by comparing used power when transmitting a command and receiving power through a communication channel and to judge possibility of erroneous connection of a target by comparing wirelessly transferred power and transferred power to a load of a target in a charge mode. CONSTITUTION: A communication device in a wireless power transfer system includes a channel search unit(510) searching communication channels except for a channel used for wireless power transfer and measuring status information of communication channels, a channel determination unit(520) determining a communication channel used for communication with a detected target in a wireless power transfer region of a source based on status information of the measured communication channels, a communication unit(540) transmitting a channel occupation signal having a specific size and an access standard command to a target using a communication frequency of the determined communication channel and a control unit(530) determining whether communication is okay or not in a determined communication channel based on possibility of reception of a response signal corresponding to the access standard command.
