PURPOSE: A definition improving method and a display device using the same are provided to improve image quality while minimizing the degradation of the image quality by changing a definition level of an input image according to an edge level of each input image. CONSTITUTION: A calculating unit(431) of an image data processing unit(430) calculates a WAEL(Weighted Average Edge Level) according to each frame of an input image. The calculating unit extracts a definition level matched with the calculated WAEL from a storage unit(433) to determine the definition level to be applied to each frame. A converting unit(432) of the image data processing unit changes the definition of the input image according to the calculated definition level.
