The biopsy device consists of a hand piece, in which a hollow biopsy needle is inserted, wherein a part of the portion of the biopsy needle projecting beyond the hand piece with its sample removal chamber can be inserted into the tissue being investigated and the tissue is sucked into the sample removal chamber by vacuum and then separated by means of a sample separating mechanism and afterwards removed. The vacuum generating device can be used as necessary to generate an excess pressure by opening a ventilation opening; furthermore, the vacuum pressure-generating device (5) as well as other control and supply devices and the electrical actuators are integrated in the housing of the hand piece (1) and the connection element (4) between the biopsy needle (3) and the vacuum pressure-generating device (5) is arranged directly on the housing. Thanks to the arrangement of the operating panel on the housing and the electrical units in the housing, the freedom of movement of the biopsy device is not restricted. The device allows a single-hand operation. The device combines the advantages of the high-speed biopsy guns with the advantages of vacuum biopsy and furnishes the pathologist better specimens for analysis. |
