PURPOSE: A computer system and a control method, capable of performance mode change by using a separate button are provided to properly change a power saving mode, a normal mode, and a high efficient mode corresponding to a situation, thereby efficiently using the resources of a limited system. CONSTITUTION: A process performance unit(110) is operated in a normal mode with a high priority rank. The process performance unit reassigns a priority rank which is higher than before to a program which is executed with the priority rank in a high performance mode. A display screen visually displays mode indication which shows the normal mode or the high performance mode. When the priority rank is not reassigned, the program is operated with the high priority rank. A user selects the normal mode and the high performance mode by inputting one or more keystrokes through a keyboard.
