METHOD FOR BUILDING AN ELEVATION MAP WITH ELEVATION INFORMATION BADED ON TERRAIN CLASSIFICATION AND MATCHING STRATEGY

PURPOSE: A method for building an elevation map with elevation information based on terrain classification is provided to draw a map rapidly by classifying terrain having same elevation for reducing calculation time for drawing. CONSTITUTION: A method for building an elevation map with elevation information based on terrain classification is as follows. The geographic information of target section is acquired from a detection part including a distance sensor mounted on a moving robot(S10). An elevation map is drawn based on the geographic information(S20). The elevation map is classified into grid sections based on a predetermined terrain classification rules(S30). The drawn maps including classified geographic information are continuously formed and the maps are integrated in order(S40).
