A driving and supporting arrangement for one or two false twist spindles comprises a support 13 attached to a false twist crimping machine frame along with other such arrangements, the support carrying a motor 15, driving and supporting rollers 16, 17, 18, 19 for the spindle and a belt 23 engaging a pulley of the motor and a wharf of the spindle driving roller(s). There is preferably a speed ratio between the false twist spindle(s) and the motor of 100:1. Each spindle can be magnetically retained in contact with its driving roller 16, 18 while rollers 17, 19 rotate freely. Alternatively rollers 17, 19 can be driven. The spindles may rotate in the same or opposite directions. The motor is adjustably mounted on the support by means of screws 15' engaging in slots for adjustable tensioning of the belt. The motor or (preferably a variable speed reluctance motor), the driving and support rollers and the spindles project from one side of the support 13 while the motor pulley and the roller wharfs project from the other side and are enclosed in a casing lined with sound-absorbing material. The yarn passes through tubes 31 in the casing, the tubes having ceramic eyes at each end.</p> |
