PURPOSE: An air brake system for a railway vehicle is provided to prevent the slip of the railway vehicle due to the loss of braking power by applying a brake immediately when the railway vehicle is restarted after being applying the brake in an emergency. CONSTITUTION: An air brake system for a railway vehicle comprises an air compressor(110), a main air container(130), a first valve(160), a second valve(170), a third valve(180), a front wheel braking part(140), and a rear wheel braking part(150). The main air container is connected to the air compressor to store compressive air and exhausts the stored compressive air according to signals of a brake control part while braking. The first valve is connected to the main air container to transfer the compressive air and applies a brake by exhausting the compressive air according to the signals of the brake control part while braking. The second and third valves are connected to the first valve to transfer the compressive air and exhausts the compressive air according to the signals while braking. The front and rear wheel braking parts are connected to the second and third valves to brake by the exhaustion of the compressive air. |
