PURPOSE: A composition containing chlorogenic acid is provided to effectively prevent auditory neuropathy and to delay reaction reduction of auditory nerves. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating auditory neuropathy contains 0.001-50 wt% of chlorogenic acid. Auditory neuropathy is caused by diabetes. Chlorogenic acid is a kind of polyphenol, and is denoted by chemical formula, (1S,3R,4R,5R)-3-{[(2Z)-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)prop-2-enoyl]oxy}-1,4,5-trihydroxycyclohexanecarboxylic acid.
