PURPOSE: A user interface providing method of a portable terminal and a device thereof are provided to execute a desired function by enabling a user to touch an icon included in an affordance image. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen(130) recognizes the access and touch of a touch input device. When the access of the touch input device is sensed, a control unit(110) determines kinds of the touch input device. When the touch input device is a stylus(200), the control unit outputs a first affordance image corresponding to a function by using the stylus at one side of area in which the access of the stylus is sensed. A display panel(131) outputs the first affordance image. The control unit confirms the access of the touch input device for items displayed on a touch panel(132).
