PURPOSE: A lighting device and a liquid crystal display using the same are provided to reduce the number of LEDs by using top view LEDs. CONSTITUTION: A lighting device includes top view LEDs(130) and a resin layer(140). The top view LEDs are formed on a base substrate(101). The LEDs are buried in the resin layer. The resin layer is laminated on the base substrate. The top view LEDs radiate light in an upward direction. The top view LEDs are mounted on a bar type printed circuit board(110).
